Falun Gong, also commonly known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient Chinese spiritual discipline. It consists of moral teachings and five gentle exercises that offer an effective and rewarding way to improve your health and energy levels.
At the core of the practice are the values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance (Zhen 真, Shan 善, Ren 忍). Falun Gong teaches that these are the most fundamental qualities of the universe, and takes them as a guide in daily life.
Through consistent and dedicated practice, the student of Falun Gong strives to achieve a state of selflessness, greater insight and awareness, inner purity, and balance – a state of truth health.
Falun Gong has brought improved health and well-being to more than 100 million people. The exercises can be learned free of charge.

- spiritual growth and physical health;
- relieving stress and anxiety;
- increasing energy and vitality.
Practicing Falun Gong – What’s it all about?
Applying the principles
Practicing Falun Gong means striving to improve oneself and living one’s life in ever-closer harmony with the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Each person’s understanding of the universal principles is unique and continues to evolve with study and practice. There is no set of “standard beliefs” that one must adopt. Each person assimilates and applies the principles in his or her own way.
Falun Gong is cultivation-practice – a spiritual practice of both mind and body – yet it does not have temples or churches, memberships or fees. It is a deeply personal practice – one that is freely chosen, freely practices, and free to be understood by the individual him or herself. Meeting with others to share experiences and understandings is something we grow to look forward to, and find richly rewarding.
Meditation and exercise
Falun Gong includes five sets of gentle exercises that serve to cultivate the body. Some days we practice alone, while others we’ll meet outdoors or in a park to practice together. The exercises cultivate the body.
Many people experience life-changing improvements in their physical and mental health through Falun Gong. Widely enjoyed benefits include more restful sleep, less stress, increased energy, reduced irritability, and more. The range of experiences is endless, but everyone who practices Falun Gong has a story to tell.
In 1998, an independent, systematic health survey of 12 000 Falun Gong practitioners by China’s National Sports Commission concluded “the exercises and effects of Falun Gong are excellent. It has done an extraordinary amount to improve society’s stability and ethics”. Since 2001, supporting surveys found that 58.5% to 95.1% of respondents reported a full recovery of one or more health problems since practicing Falun Gong. Overall, these studies show Falun Gong has provided significant health and fitness to its practitioners. Amazing first-hand accounts of health improvements can be found in the book Life and Hope Renewed – The Healing Power Of Falun Dafa (available on amazon.com).
