Online Movie Screening: “Finding Courage”

November 13th & November 21st

Falun Dafa at McGill, together with 13 other Falun Dafa clubs hosted two online documentary screenings of “Finding Courage”. The screenings were on Nov. 13 and 21 (Fri. and Sat.) from 8:00PM to 10:00PM. Following the screening was a discussion with the director Kay Rubacek.

“Finding Courage” is about a former Chinese journalist who undertakes a daring covert mission with her family to film and collect evidence inside the labor camp where one of her family members was murdered. Their courageous story is both moving and eye-opening, shedding light on some of the hidden atrocities occurring within China.

Documentary Screening: Letter from Masanjia

Feb 28, 2020

Thank you everyone for attending the screening of the documentary “Letters from Masanjia” on the 28th! We hope you learned a lot from Sun Yi’s undeterred courage and his encounter with Julie Keith. We also hope the Q&A session with the movie director Leon Lee was very insightful! As he said during the video conference, if you received Sun Yi’s letter in a product packaging, would you have discarded it, or kept it, as Julie did? Small actions can lead to big differences. We hope everyone will share the message of this movie to your friends and relatives. Have a nice March break!

November 14, 2017 (Hard to Believe Film Screening)

McGill Students for Amnesty International and Falun Dafa at McGill co-hosted a free screening of the award-winning documentary Hard to Believe. The event took place in the Arts Building, W-20 from 7-9pm. The Falun Dafa club introduced the history of Falun Dafa in a short presentation, followed by a 50 minutes film screening.

Film Synopsis:

IT’S HAPPENED BEFORE: Governments killing their own citizens for their political or spiritual beliefs. But it’s never happened like this.

It’s happened so often that the world doesn’t always pay attention. But is economic influence the reason, that this time, it’s going largely unreported? It’s hard to believe that doctors would carve up innocent people so their organs could be sold. It’s even harder to believe that major media are not investigating. Yet it happened tens of thousands of time, and may be happening still.

Hard To Believe is a documentary that examines the issue of forced live organ harvesting from Chinese prisoners of conscience, and the response—or lack of it—around the world. Produced by Swoop Films, two-time Emmy Award-winning director/producer, Ken Stone, Irene Silber, Kay Rubacek and Swoop Films.

September 5-7, 2017 (Fall Activities Night)

Falun Dafa at McGill tabled on the second floor in the SSMU Ballroom during the Fall Activities Night event hosted by the Students’ Society of McGill University. Many students expressed interest in learning the peaceful practice and exercises practiced by millions around the world. After learning about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa in China, a Canadian student told a practitioner, “You have endured so much! I admire you a lot!”. More than 250 on-campus clubs, services, and student groups gathered to introduce their initiative to more than 1000 students. This year, the number of attendees broke the record! Thank you for joining us and hope to see you at our next event! The event was reported on Minghui.org, please find the article here.
